Bimetallic

Matoria supplies precision bi-metallic conductors manufactured by RAYTRON International for applications where electrical performance, mechanical strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and cost must be balanced to suit the end use.
Available in round wire, flat wire, strip, foil, and stranded constructions, these engineered clad materials combine two metals in a bonded conductor structure.

Our product range includes:

Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA)

A lightweight, cost-efficient conductor combining an aluminum core with a copper outer layer. CCA is available as round wire, flat wire, strip, and foil for RF and coaxial cable, communication cable, speaker wire, lightweight wire harnesses, selected motor windings, and composite PV-ribbon applications. Typical conductivity is 62–70% IACS, depending on copper ratio and product form.

Copper-Clad Steel (CCS)

A high-strength conductor with a steel core and copper outer layer, designed for applications requiring mechanical durability together with electrical conductivity and corrosion performance. CCS is available as round wire, stranded wire, and narrow foil for grounding networks, lightning protection, coaxial cable cores, CATV and communication cable, electronic leads, connectors, and railway applications. Typical conductivity is 21–40% IACS.

Nickel-Clad Copper (NCC)

A copper conductor with a nickel outer layer, providing enhanced corrosion resistance, weldability, and high-temperature performance. NCC is available as round wire, strip, and foil for battery tabs and interconnects, welding electrodes, heating elements, high-temperature sensor leads, aerospace electronics, and harsh-environment electrical connections. Typical conductivity is 70–85% IACS, depending on nickel-layer design and the finished product specification.

Silver-Clad Copper (SCC)

A copper conductor with a silver outer layer, offering conductivity that exceeds pure copper along with superior high-frequency performance, low contact resistance, and excellent solderability. SCC is available as round wire, with a silver content typically ranging from 5–20%. Typical conductivity is 100–106% IACS, with an operating range of -196°C to 300°C, making it well-suited for RF connectors, high-frequency coaxial cable, premium audio cable, medical equipment, and precision instrumentation.

Applications and Services

RAYTRON’s bi-metallic conductors are used in solar photovoltaic systems, electric vehicles, batteries and energy storage, cable and communications, motors, electronics, grounding, and industrial-energy applications.
Matoria works with RAYTRON to help customers define the right conductor construction and specification, from initial samples and validation through to production supply.
RAYTRON manufactures CCA, CCS, NCC, and SCC conductors using precision rolling, clad bonding, annealing, and surface-treatment processes.
